La patata de siembra española avanza en la gestión integrada de plagas APPSE

Son numerosos los temas que preocupan al sector y que son estudiados en el seno de la APPSE. Sin ir más lejos, para poder abordarlos, en el mes de marzo pasado la asociación celebró en Burgos su asamblea general anual. En ella trataron asuntos como la entrada en vigor de la nueva clasificación y etiquetado de la patata de siembra tras la publicación de dos recientes Directivas Europeas y la situación de la plaga de Epitrix que está influyendo en las exportaciones de patata española con la consiguiente repercusión que puede tener en el mercado de semilla.
En la asamblea se acordó celebrar la II Jornada Técnica Nacional sobre producción de Patata de Siembra, centrándola en la aplicación práctica a la semilla de la Guía de Gestión Integrada de Plagas para el Cultivo de la Patata. Durante la misma se planteará un debate sobre la situación actual y perspectivas del sector.
Ambos aspectos ya se habían tratado en reuniones anteriores, donde se extrajeron las siguientes conclusiones:
– Los productores de patata de siembra deben concentrar la oferta, con un menor número de variedades y más adaptadas al consumidor final.
– La patata de siembra española tiene precios más competitivos y es de mejor calidad que la europea que últimamente provoca problemas por la sarna plateada. Hace falta dar a conocer este aspecto a los agricultores.
– Los recientes cambios normativos en relación a la producción de patata de siembra obligan a la planificación más temprana de las siembras.
– La normativa de gestión integrada de plagas obligará a tener mayores conocimientos fitosanitarios y a utilizar el asesoramiento de los técnicos de las entidades productoras de una manera más regulada.
